Move leads through the leads pipeline

See every lead as a card in its stage, drag it forward as it progresses, and give a reason where the pipeline asks for one.

The leads pipeline is a board with one column per lead stage. Each lead is a card in the column of its current stage. It shows at a glance where your leads are stuck, and lets a rep move a lead forward with one drag.

Open the board

  1. Open CRM › Sales › Leads Pipeline.

The leads pipeline board with one column per stage and a card per lead

Each card shows the company name, the contact person, the estimated value and the lead's score. You see the leads you are responsible for and those of your team; users who may view all records see every lead.

To narrow the board, use the custom-field filter in the toolbar. When there are many leads, a line above the board tells you how many of the total are shown.

Move a lead to another stage

  1. Drag the card to the column of the new stage, or use Move to stage… on the card and pick the stage.

  2. If the pipeline requires a reason for that move, the Reason required dialog opens. Type the reason and select Confirm.

The system shows Stage updated and the card moves. The lead's status follows the stage: moving it to the qualified stage marks it qualified, moving it to a lost stage marks it lost and keeps your reason as the loss reason.

Moves that are refused

  • Only allowed moves are accepted. Your administrator decides which stage can follow which in pipeline settings. A move outside those rules is refused with "That stage move isn't allowed by the pipeline rules."

  • A lead without a stage can go to any stage the first time; the rules apply from then on.

  • A converted lead cannot move. It is the history of the customer it became, so its stage is locked.

Working from the board

  • To log a call, schedule a follow-up or convert a lead, open it from the leads list. See record and work a lead.

  • Use the board in your weekly sales meeting: the count beside each stage name shows how many leads sit there, and the values on the cards show what they are worth.

Common questions

Why does the board say it could not be loaded? You may not have access to the leads board. Ask your administrator to grant it.

Can I add a column? Columns are the lead stages. An administrator adds, renames or reorders them in pipelines.
