Two purchasing rules are set per company. Both are off until you switch them on; with them off, purchasing works as it always has.
Set the rules
Go to Purchasing > Purchasing Settings.
Under purchase-order approval, switch on Purchase orders need approval and enter From an order total of. 0 means every order.
Under receipt-first buying, switch on Receive before invoicing and enter the Price tolerance (%) allowed between the invoice and the order.
Select Save.
What each rule changes
Approval: orders at or above the amount wait for someone other than their creator to approve them. See Approve purchase orders.
Receipt-first: goods are received against the order, and the supplier's invoice is raised from the receipts. See Receive goods against a purchase order.
Receipt-first posts to the goods received not invoiced account in Project accounts, and price differences go to the branch's stock variance account. Map both before you switch it on.
Common questions
Can I switch receipt-first off again? Yes, once every receipt is invoiced. The page tells you how many receipt lines are still waiting.
Who can change these settings? Users with the purchasing settings permission.
