Add and edit a supplier
Register a supplier with a name, code and currency. The system opens the supplier's own payables account for you, so purchases and payments post to it from day one.

Every purchase order, purchase invoice, return and payment is made against a supplier. When you add a supplier, the system also creates the supplier's account in your chart of accounts, under your branch's suppliers account. Every purchase and payment for that supplier posts there, and the supplier's balance comes from it.
Before you start
You need the permission to add suppliers.
Your branch has its suppliers account set in the accounting setup. Ask your accountant if you are not sure.
Add a supplier
Open Purchasing › Suppliers and select Add supplier. The New supplier panel opens.
Enter the Name and a Code. Both are required.
Choose the currency in Select currency. It is required.
Optionally enter the Mobile, the Payment duration (days) you have agreed with the supplier, and the Country, State and City.
Select Save. Saved successfully appears and the supplier joins the list.
Complete the supplier's details
The new supplier panel keeps to the essentials. To add the rest:
In the supplier's Actions menu, select Edit. The Edit supplier panel opens.
Fill in the Contact person, Landline, Email, Website and Description, and correct any other field.
Select Save.
When you rename a supplier, the name of the supplier's account in the chart of accounts follows.
Find a supplier
Use Search by name, code, mobile or email…. The list shows the Name, Code, Mobile, Email, Balance and Location. Balance is the supplier's account balance in your branch: what you owe them. Click a supplier to open its profile.
Common questions
Can I deactivate a supplier? There is no active or inactive switch. Every supplier on file can be used on purchasing documents.
Can I change the supplier's currency later? The edit panel does not include the currency. Choose it carefully when you create the supplier.
Purchases against a new supplier fail with an account error. Why? The supplier's account may not be a posting account. Open the supplier's Supplier 360 and check the GL account tab.
