How much should you order? Start from how fast the item sells. The three reorder reports calculate the average quantity sold per day, per week or per month over a period you choose.
Menu entry | Page title | Average per |
|---|---|---|
Avg Daily Sales Qty | Daily reorder average | Day |
Avg Weekly Sales Qty | Weekly reorder average | Week (days ÷ 7) |
Avg Monthly Sales Qty | Monthly reorder average | Whole month |
Steps
Open Reports & Analytics › Purchasing Reports, then the report you need.
Set the period in From and To. Choose a period long enough to be representative, such as the last three months.
Optional: narrow it with Branch ID, Customer ID, Warehouse ID, Item ID, Main category or Sub-category.
Optional: in Unit, choose Default unit or Largest unit to see the average in pieces or in cartons, for example.
Select Apply.
Each row shows Item, Unit, Main Category, Sub Category and Avg Qty.
Turn the average into an order
Multiply Avg Qty by the number of days (or weeks, or months) until the next delivery, plus a safety margin.
Subtract what you already have, from the available items report.
The result is the quantity to order.
For example, an item that sells 12 units a day, with a 10-day lead time and 5 days of safety stock, needs 180 units on hand when you order.
Tips
Exclude unusual periods, such as a one-off promotion, which would overstate the average.
Filter by Customer ID to plan stock for a key account.
Export to Excel to add your own lead times and order quantities.
