A project is a piece of work that will be bought from several suppliers: a new facility, a fit-out, a large installation. You often hear of it long before there is a tender. Recording it as a project lets you follow it from the first rumour to the award, see who decides, and avoid counting the same business twice when several reps chase different parts of it.

Add a project

  1. Open CRM › Projects & Tenders › Projects and select New project.

The projects list with the filters, the list and map views and the New project button
  1. Type the Name; it is the only required field. Add the Arabic name and set the Status.

  2. Classify it: Parent project, Sector, Project type, Project stage, Specification status and the Specified brands.

  3. Record where it came from: Source, External source and External reference. Set the Owner and the Team.

  4. Under Value and dates, enter the Estimated value, the Currency, the Expected tender date, the Expected award date and the Expected completion date.

  5. Under Site, fill the Country, State / region, City and Address, place it on the map, and add the size details if they help you.

  6. Add a Description and Notes, then select Save.

Packages and the de-duplicated pipeline

Several of your opportunities can target the same package, for example when two reps quote through different contractors. Only the best open bid in each package counts toward the Pipeline (de-duplicated), so the project's value is not inflated.

  1. On the Packages tab, select Add package and enter the Package name, the System / category, the Estimated value and the Currency.

  2. Link opportunities to the package from the opportunity form (Project and Package).

  3. Each package shows the value Counted in pipeline and its competing opportunities. When one wins, it shows as the Winner.

  4. If the package went to someone else, select Awarded to another, choose who it went to under Awarded to and give the Loss reason. Its open opportunities are closed as lost.

Common questions

Why can't I delete a project? A project with open opportunities cannot be deleted. Close or move its opportunities first. A package that opportunities target cannot be deleted either.

Where do the lists for sector, stage and influence come from? From your company's lookup values.
