A quality checklist is the template behind every inspection. It lists the criteria to check, in order, and for measurements the acceptable range. When an inspector picks a work order, the matching checklist loads automatically, so checks are consistent from one shift to the next.
Create a checklist
Open Manufacturing › Quality › Quality Checklists and select New Checklist.
Enter a Name and, if useful, a Description.
In Applies To, choose All Items, or Specific Item and then the Item.
Leave Active on so inspections can use it.
Under Criteria, fill one line per check. Select Add Criterion for each extra line:
Criterion description: what to check, for example "Coating thickness".
Check type: visual, measurement, test or other.
Specification: the target in words, if useful.
Min, Max and Unit for measurement checks.
Seq: the order in which the inspector sees it.
Required: switch on for criteria that must always be checked.
Select Save.
A checklist needs at least one criterion. Without one, the form shows Add at least one criterion.
Which checklist an inspection uses
When an inspection is recorded for a work order, the system looks for an active checklist for that exact product first. If there is none, it uses an active checklist that applies to all items. Keep one general checklist for common checks and add product checklists where a product needs more.
Limits and SPC charts
The Min and Max of a measurement criterion become its specification limits on the SPC control charts, and their midpoint becomes the target. The criterion description is the characteristic you pick on the chart. Set both limits if you want the chart to calculate process capability.
Activate, deactivate, edit or delete
Use Deactivate to retire a checklist without losing it, and Activate to bring it back. Inactive checklists are not used by new inspections.
Use the row's actions menu to edit a checklist. Changes apply to future inspections.
Delete a checklist only if it was never meant to be used. A checklist that is used by an inspection trigger cannot be deleted, and the system suggests deactivating it instead.
Common questions
Can two active checklists apply to the same product? Avoid it. Keep one active checklist per product so inspectors always see the same criteria.
Do criteria marked Required block an inspection? Each criterion must be marked passed or failed in the inspection. A failed criterion makes the inspection fail.
