A quality inspection records what was checked on a work order's output, how many units passed and failed, and what to do with the failures. The checks come from a checklist, so every inspector follows the same criteria. Inspections do not move stock or post entries, but a failed inspection can stop the work order.
Before you start
Create an active quality checklist for the product, or one that applies to all items. An inspection needs at least one check.
The work order to inspect must exist.
Steps
Open Manufacturing › Quality › Quality Inspections and select New inspection.
Choose the Work order. The checks of the matching checklist load below. A checklist for this specific product is used first, otherwise one for all items. If none exists, the panel shows No checklist for this inspection.
Choose the Type: incoming, in-process, final or customer return.
Enter the Qty inspected, Qty passed and Qty failed. Passed plus failed must equal the inspected quantity.
Under Checks, for each criterion switch Passed on or off, enter the Measured value for measurement checks, and add Remarks if needed.
If units failed, choose a Disposition: accept, reject, rework, use as-is or scrap.
Select Save.
The result
The inspection's Result is Pass only when no unit failed and every check passed. Anything else is Fail.
Review inspections
Use the search box, All types and All results to filter the list. Each row shows the Work order, Item, Type, Date, Quantities, Result and Disposition.
Open an inspection to see each check with its result, the Measured value and the Remarks.
The row's actions menu lets you edit or delete an inspection. Deleting it removes its checks too.
The same inspections appear on the work order's Quality Inspections tab.
How inspections feed other screens
Measured values feed the SPC control charts under Quality Reports.
If lot or serial tracking is on, the lot number and serial reference entered when the order is completed are copied onto its inspections that have none.
Common questions
Why can't I save? Either passed plus failed does not equal the inspected quantity, or there are no checks because no active checklist matches the product.
Does an inspection change stock? No. To scrap units, report scrap from the shop floor or record it when you complete the order.
