The Sales vs purchase report answers a simple question: did we sell above cost, and by how much? It lists every sold invoice line in the period with its cost, its net selling price and the margin per unit.
Before you start
You need the permission for this report.
Run the report
Open Sales › Sales Against Purchase.
Set the period with From and To.
Narrow it if needed with the filters: branch, warehouse, POS terminal, item, customer, the user who sold, or the delivery user. Leave a filter empty to include everything.
Select Apply.
Move through long results with Previous and Next. Page {page} of {total} shows where you are.
What each line shows
For every invoice line: the invoice, terminal, branch, warehouse, customer, item and unit, then:
the unit cost and the unit cost used for the margin;
the unit selling price and the net selling price after the line discount, without tax;
the margin per unit: net selling price minus cost;
the quantity, discount, tax and total cost.
The cost is the item's average cost at the time of sale. When your company tracks supplier bonuses, the cost used for the margin can be the lower cost after the expected bonus.
Export
Select Export Excel or Export PDF to download the report with the filters you applied. If the export fails, you see Export failed. Please try again.
Common questions
Why does a line show a negative margin? It was sold below cost, often because of a discount. See How prices and discounts are set.
Are POS sales included? Yes. POS sales are sales invoices. Filter by POS terminal to see one till.
