An onboarding run is one employee's copy of an onboarding template: the same tasks, each with its own due date counted from that person's joining date. This screen lists every run in the company and lets each owner tick off their steps, so HR can see who is behind and what still blocks a new hire's first salary.
Before you start
The employee record must exist with a joining date. See add an employee.
At least one active onboarding template must exist.
Assign a checklist
A hire made from a job posting that has an onboarding template gets the checklist automatically. For anyone else, assign it by hand.
Open People › Talent › Onboarding. The list shows each run with the Employee, the Checklist, its Progress, the Target date and the Status.
Select Assign checklist.
Choose the Employee, then the checklist in Select a checklist. Only active templates not yet assigned to this person are offered.
Select Assign checklist to confirm.
The system creates one step per template task. Each step is due on the joining date plus the task's due-day offset, and the run's target date is the joining date plus 30 days.
Work through the steps
Select the employee's row. Their checklists open as a list of steps, starting at the first unfinished one.
Select a step. Pending steps offer Start to show that someone has picked it up.
Type any Completion notes, then select Mark complete.
For an optional step that does not apply, select Skip. Required steps cannot be skipped.
To undo a finished or skipped step, select Reopen. The step returns to not started.
Each step shows who owns it, its Due date, and badges for Optional steps and steps that Blocks salary. Use Employee profile to open the person's record, and Back to return to the register.
How progress and status are worked out
Progress is the share of steps completed or skipped. For example, 6 finished steps out of 8 is 75%.
Steps done shows the same count as a fraction, such as 6 / 8.
Blocking salary counts the salary-blocking steps that are not yet finished. Clear this to zero before you process the employee's first payroll.
The run's status follows its steps: Completed when every step is completed or skipped, In progress as soon as any step is started or finished, and Not started otherwise.
Common questions
The checklist I want is not in the list. It is inactive, or this employee already has it. The dialog says when every active checklist is already assigned.
Can I remove a step from a running checklist? No. Skip it if it is optional, or add a note when you mark it complete.
Why are the due dates wrong? They are counted from the joining date recorded when the checklist was assigned. Changing the joining date afterwards does not move them, so check the joining date before you assign a checklist.
