Set up public holidays
Keep the calendar of public holidays for the whole company or one branch, so leave is not charged for them and attendance does not treat them as working days.

Public holidays are days nobody is expected to work. Record them once a year, or once for good when the date never changes, and the system takes them into account everywhere it counts working days: leave balances, attendance and payroll.
Open the screen
Open People › HR Admin › Public Holidays. You need the HR settings permission to see it. The list shows each holiday's Date, Name, whether it Repeats every year, its Branch and its Status. Filter by Year or search by name.
Add a holiday
Select New Holiday.
Pick the Date.
Enter the Name and the Name (Arabic).
Leave Branch empty for a holiday that applies to all branches, or choose the one branch it applies to.
Switch on Repeats every year for a fixed-date national day. The same day and month then apply every year, whatever year you entered.
Add a Description if you wish, keep Active on and select Save.
Each date can be entered once for all branches and once per branch. Use Edit in the row menu to correct a holiday, or switch Active off to stop it counting without deleting it.
What a holiday changes
Leave: a holiday inside a leave request is not charged to the balance. See leave requests.
Attendance: a holiday is not a working day, so no clock-in that day is not an absence. See attendance management.
Payroll: hours worked on a holiday are paid as rest-day work, and absence deduction never counts a holiday. See overtime.
A branch's calendar is its own holidays plus the ones that apply to all branches.
Common questions
Do I need to enter Eid holidays every year? Yes. Holidays that follow the lunar calendar move each year, so enter them as dated holidays without Repeats every year.
Is the weekly rest day a holiday? No. The weekend is set in HR settings and on each work shift. Use this screen only for dated holidays.
