Review suspicious attendance punches

Phone punches that look wrong, such as a faked location, an unknown phone or a late offline sync, wait here with their evidence until you accept or reject them.

Every punch from the self-service app is checked as it arrives: where it was taken, from which phone, whether the phone's clock and location look genuine, and whether the site's proof of presence was shown. Each warning sign adds to a risk score. A punch that scores high, that falls outside the fence when your settings say to accept and flag it, or that reaches the server long after it was taken is listed on this screen for a person to decide.

What can flag a punch

  • a mocked (fake) location, or a position far outside the work site;

  • a phone that is not the employee's bound phone, is waiting for approval or was revoked;

  • a phone whose integrity cannot be confirmed;

  • a missing or wrong site code, tag or beacon;

  • a large difference between the phone's clock and the server's;

  • a very inaccurate position, no position, or the same position repeated exactly;

  • a move between two punches that is too fast to be real;

  • a punch taken with no signal that arrived later than the Offline punch alert after (minutes) setting allows.

Work through the queue

  1. Open People › Time & Attendance › Punch Review.

  2. The cards at the top show how many punches are Awaiting review, how many were Flagged today, the Highest risk score, and the Most common reasons:.

  3. Filter by status, set a Minimum score, or pick a single reason to work through one kind of problem at a time.

  4. Open a punch to see its Punch evidence: the Risk score, Work site, Distance from site, Coordinates (with View on map), Reported accuracy, Mocked location, Device, Attestation, Proof of presence and Clock difference. Punched (phone's time) and Received by the server show any offline delay.

  5. Write what you found in the notes, then select Accept punch or Reject punch. A rejection needs a reason.

What each decision does

  • Accept punch keeps the attendance as it was recorded. A flagged punch already counts while it waits, so accepting changes nothing on the day.

  • Reject punch removes the credit for the punch:

    • a rejected clock-in clears both times of the day. The day is then graded again: absent on a working day, on leave on an approved leave day, a weekend or a holiday;

    • a rejected clock-out clears only the departure time.

The decision, your notes and the original times are kept with the punch. If you reject a punch by mistake, accept it again and the original times come back.

Rules to know

  • A punch cannot be rejected when its day falls inside a payroll period that has already been processed, or when the day's overtime has already been processed. Handle such a case as a payroll adjustment.

  • Several people can work the queue at once. When two reviewers decide the same punch, the first decision stands.

Common questions

Why is a punch here when the employee was at work? Phones report poor accuracy indoors, and a reinstalled app counts as a new phone. Check the evidence; if it explains the warning, accept the punch.

The queue is empty. Punches are listed only when something about them looked wrong.
