E-invoicing

How e-invoicing works in Rocket ERP

Rocket ERP files your sales invoices, POS receipts and returns with the Egyptian Tax Authority (ETA) or ZATCA in Saudi Arabia, in the background, without changing how your team enters documents.

In Egypt and Saudi Arabia a business must report its invoices to the tax authority electronically. Rocket ERP does this for you. Your team keeps creating sales invoices, POS sales and returns exactly as before, and the system builds the electronic document, signs it and sends it to the authority in the background. The Tax Compliance module shows you what was sent, what the authority accepted, and what still needs a fix.

Which authorities are supported

  • Egypt — Egyptian Tax Authority (ETA). Invoices are signed with your company's signing certificate and submitted to the ETA e-invoicing system.

  • Saudi Arabia — ZATCA (Fatoora), Phase 2. Business invoices (standard, B2B) are cleared by ZATCA, and simplified invoices to individuals (B2C) and POS receipts are reported to it. Each branch or POS terminal that issues invoices is registered with ZATCA and gets its own certificate.

What is filed

Once a document type is switched on in Compliance Settings, the system files it automatically when it is saved:

Document in Rocket ERP

Filed as

Sales invoice

Sales invoice, standard (B2B) or simplified (B2C) according to the customer

POS sale

POS receipt, always simplified

Customer return

Credit note that refers to the original invoice

Return of goods to a supplier

Debit note

Each filed document gets its own sequential number per branch, separate for invoices, POS receipts, credit notes and debit notes, because both authorities require gapless sequences.

How to open the module

The module is part of your subscription only when your Rocket ERP plan includes e-invoicing. When it is active, open More in the top menu and choose Tax Compliance. It contains:

The three modes

  1. Off — nothing is built or sent. The system behaves exactly as it did before.

  2. Test mode — every eligible document is built and checked against the authority's rules, but nothing is sent. Use it on your real invoices for a few days to find missing tax numbers, unit codes or tax mappings before they become rejections. Test documents do not lock invoices, so you can still delete one while you rehearse.

  3. Live — documents are filed with the authority. You can switch to Live only when every blocking item on the go-live readiness checklist is fixed.

  1. Your Rocket ERP implementation team activates the module and gives your administrator the connection details.

  2. Your administrator enters them in Compliance Settings, selects the Tax authority and the documents to file, and sets the Mode to Test mode.

  3. In Saudi Arabia, register each branch and POS terminal in Authority Onboarding.

  4. Work through Go-live readiness on the Overview until no blocking item is left.

  5. Switch the Mode to Live.

What changes for your team

  • A filed invoice shows a Tax information block when printed or viewed: the document number, the seller and buyer tax numbers, the authority reference, the tax breakdown, and the authority QR code (Scan to verify with the tax authority).

  • When Lock filed documents is on, a filed invoice can no longer be deleted. Correct it with a customer return, which is filed as a credit note.

  • By default an e-invoicing problem never stops a sale. If the authority is unreachable, invoicing and POS printing continue, and the system resends the documents automatically.

Common questions

Do my users need to do anything extra when they create an invoice? No. Filing happens after the invoice is saved. Make sure business customers have their tax registration number on the customer record.

Can I cancel a filed invoice? No. Issue a customer return for it. The return is filed as a credit note that refers to the original invoice.
