The Attendance tab of the employee app replaces the paper sheet and the fingerprint reader at the door. One button records your arrival and your departure, with your location, and the record reaches HR's attendance screen straight away.
Before you start
Turn on location services on the phone and allow the app to use your location. Every punch from the app carries a location, even when your company does not check distance.
If your company requires registered phones, your phone must be approved first. See register your phone.
Clock in
Open the app. The Attendance tab shows today's state: Not clocked in yet.
Select Clock in. The button shows Finding your location… and then Recording….
When it is done, the app shows Clocked in, and the ring shows Clocked in at with the time and a running counter of the hours worked.
If you arrive after your shift starts, the day is marked Late.
Clock out
At the end of the day, select Clock out on the same tab.
The app shows Clocked out and then Done for the day with the hours you worked.
One attendance row is kept per day, however many times you press the button.
Sites that check where you are
Your company may require you to be at your work site to punch. The tab shows your Work site.
Inside the site: the punch is accepted as usual.
Outside the site: depending on your company's rule, the punch is refused with the distance from the site, or it is accepted and the app says Recorded, and flagged for HR to review. You may be asked about it.
If the app says the GPS check is on but the site has no location set, contact HR. It is a setting on their side, not something you can fix on the phone.
Sites with an entrance code
Some sites show a code at the entrance. When your site needs it, the app says This site needs the code shown at the entrance and opens Scan the site code. Point the camera at the code. It changes every 30 seconds, so scan the code on the screen, not a photo of it.
When the location cannot be found
Message | What to do |
|---|---|
Location is switched off on this phone. | Turn location on, or select Open settings. |
This app needs your location to clock in. | Select Allow location. |
Location permission is blocked. | Select Open settings and allow location for the app. |
Could not get a location fix. | Step outside or near a window and select Try again. |
Without a location the app cannot record a punch. If your phone cannot locate you at all, ask HR to record the punch for you.
See your week and your history
This week shows a bar for each day with the hours worked and a summary of days and hours recorded. A day that differs from the usual, such as an absence or leave, has its own colour.
From Quick actions, select History to open Attendance history by month: Total hours, Overtime and Days recorded, with each day's late arrival, early departure, missing clock-out, punches Added by HR and punches marked Punched with no signal, sent later. Use Previous month and Next month to move between months.
Common questions
I forgot to clock out. What now? The day shows Not clocked out in your history. Ask HR to correct it from the attendance screen.
Is my location tracked during the day? No. The app reads your location only at the moment you clock in or out.
