Follow your projects from the management app

See every job's revenue and cost to date on your phone, and open a project to read its margin, contract terms and figures by task.

The Rocket ERP management app gives owners and managers the company's figures on the phone. Its Projects screens show each job's progress in money: what it has earned, what it has cost and the margin it is making, read from the same ledger lines as the web.

The project screens are for reading. Projects are created, charged and closed on the web. What you can act on from the phone is the approvals: site hours, custody settlements, estimates at completion and site diaries.

Before you start

  • Sign in with your usual user. See sign in to a mobile app.

  • You need permission to view projects, and your company's plan must include Projects & Contracting. Without them, Projects does not appear in the app's menu.

See all projects

  1. Open the menu and choose Projects › Projects, or search for it with Search screens.

  2. Each project shows its name, code and customer, and its status. On the right is its cost to date, with Revenue to date under it.

  3. Use the status buttons at the top to show only active, on-hold or completed projects, and the search box to find a project by code or name.

Open a project

Tap a project to open it. You see:

  • Margin in large type, with Revenue, Cost and Margin % beside it.

  • Figures to date: cost of activity, expenses, and what is held for the project, such as material bought for it and not yet used.

  • Project details: contract value, start and end dates, retention, advance and location.

  • Revenue and cost by task: each task's revenue and cost, with its margin on the right. A task whose cost is not yet covered by what was billed for it is marked Loss.

Pull down to refresh the figures.

Approve site hours and custody settlements

Open Approvals to see what waits for you:

  • Timesheets: one row per employee with the hours sent for approval. Approve them all, or reject them with a reason the employee sees. You need permission to approve timesheets. See record the hours worked on projects.

  • Custody settlements: each settlement with its employee and amount. Approve it to post the expenses, or reject it with a reason. You need permission to settle custody. See give site staff cash custody and settle it.

  • Estimates at completion: each revision with its project, the estimate at completion and the margin it leaves. Approve it, or return it with a reason. See revise a project's estimate at completion.

  • Site diaries: each day's diary with its manpower, work and issues. Approve it, or return it with a reason. See keep the site diary.

The portfolio and site diaries

Projects › Project Portfolio shows every project's value, billing, backlog and margin, with the projects heading for a loss flagged; see follow all projects in the portfolio. A project's page also shows its estimate at completion and margin at completion when one is approved, and opens its site diaries with their photos.

You never see what you entered yourself: someone else approves it.

Common questions

Why does a project's cost differ from yesterday? Someone charged a document to it, or corrected one, since then. The figures always follow the books.

Can I change a project's status from the phone? No. Status changes, tasks and settings are made on the web, where the project's full history is visible.
